About Your Surgery
Undergoing any cosmetic surgery is a big step. Before you have any surgery, you’ll want to spend some time preparing. That means taking care of your health and learning as much as possible about the procedure before it happens.
Pre-Surgery Checklist:
When you’re preparing for surgery, it can be a stressful time. You have a lot on your mind, like whether the surgery will be successful, how long it will last and how to care for yourself afterward. Here are some things you must check first:
- Make sure to complete your pre-surgery consultation.
- There are pre-operative tests that will be conducted before your surgery but it will be determined by your physician and communicated to you prior to the date of your cosmetic surgery.
- Before your surgery, you will be contacted by a team member to discuss some routine health assessments, instructions for your surgery, and other questions you may have.
- You will be notified one day before your surgery and arrival. If no one calls you, make sure to contact us.
- Make sure to secure a photo identification because our staff will make some verification when you check in on the day of your surgery.
- Bring any medications that you need during your stay with us.
- Avoid bringing jewelry, watches, and other valuables.
- Avoid tobacco, recreational drugs, and alcohol before your surgery.
- Arrange a ride to the facility or arrange for someone to stay with you or take you home after your surgery.
- It’s essential to call your doctor if you have flu symptoms, rashes, or any other illness or infection.
- If you happen to know you are pregnant, make sure to notify your physician before the date of your surgery.
- Do not eat, drink, or drink at least 8 hours before your procedure.
Post-Surgery Checklist:
This post-surgery checklist can help you care for yourself and make the most of your recovery. We have here the steps to help with your recovery. You may have been admitted as an inpatient or outpatient. But it must be imperative to follow specific directions to help you manage your recovery well.
- Post-Operative Instructions. Instructions will be provided to you by your plastic surgeon. Make sure to adhere to his instructions. Remember, the more care you take after your surgery, the quicker you heal and the lower your chances of experiencing complications.
- Pain Management. After the procedure, pain is unavoidable, so to manage it well, you will get oral medicine to control the pain. If it doesn’t help or if the paint gets worse, make sure to call us.
- Nausea and vomiting. If you encounter persistent nausea and vomiting, you should call us.
- In taking care of your incision, usually, your surgeon will change the dressing over the incision. But, before going home, we will provide you with directions on how to take good care of it.
- Discharge from the facility. It usually depends. Our health care team will closely monitor you. When you have stable vital signs, you will be allowed to go home or transfer to a recovery house of your choice.
- Driving After Surgery. You will not be allowed to drive after your procedure, so let someone do it for you.
- You must avoid exercise because it can cause damage to your wound and can prolong healing and recovery.
- Make sure to eat a healthy and balanced diet. Ask someone to prepare a meal for you and make sure it is nutritious to speed up your recovery. Make sure to drink plenty of water for now. Avoid any sugary drinks.
- Usual Medications. It’s also essential to continue your normal medications after surgery. Anyway, these can be discussed with you before leaving our facility.
