Breast Procedures
Even before, breast surgery procedures may be performed for either cosmetic or medical reasons. The breast uprights can be reduced to improve the patient’s posture or enlarged for aesthetic purposes. Breast reconstruction following mastectomy is a typical example of surgery for medical purposes.
Breast surgery can help you feel more confident and regain lost self-esteem. Your board-certified surgeon will discuss breast implant options with you and determine the ideal procedure to meet your goals.
To find out the different breast surgery options, please see below:
- Breast Augmentation: Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure to enlarge or reshape the breasts. This surgery is done using an implant, which can be made of silicone gel or saline. Usually, implants are placed behind breasts tissue or under the muscle in order to add volume and firmness to the breasts. Implant shapes and sizes vary, but most are round and filled with either silicone gel or saline. You can select how large or small you want your breasts to be during your consultation before surgery.
- Breast Implant Removal: When the need for breast implant removal becomes necessary, many patients have found success in breast implant removal with board-certified plastic surgeons. Breast implant removal is a surgery to remove breast implants and the scar tissue around them. Some reasons for doing this are rupture, encapsulation (breast skin won’t shrink around new implants), infections, or symptoms of breast implant illness. Sometimes, it may be done with an augmentation of the natural breast (implants or fat/skin) or a lift to restore shape and balance.
- Breast Lift: Breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is a procedure for women with sagging breasts who wish to restore the youthfulness of their breasts. The procedure can address various concerns after pregnancy or childbirth and is an excellent solution for those whose breasts are compromised by age or weight loss. The breast lift procedure is designed to reshape the profile of your breasts, supporting them with a bra after the surgery. It can yield drastic results and significantly boost confidence–in or out of clothing.
- Breast Reduction: Breast reduction is a surgical procedure to reduce the size of breasts in women who desire smaller, more proportionate-looking breasts. Usually, breast size varies significantly among women, making it difficult to find a bra that correctly fits their breasts. The larger breasts are an extreme case of disproportion and discomfort compared to the rest of the anatomy and can make dressing uncomfortably challenging. This surgery can improve the fullness of the bust, though your physical examination is necessary to assess if you are a candidate for this procedure.
- Breast Revision: Breast revision is a procedure to correct an unsatisfactory result after breast augmentation, improve the cosmetic result and restore symmetry. The main goals of breast revision are to correct cosmetic deformities such as capsular contracture, replace a previous implant too large for the breast pocket, and improve the shape of breasts that were over- or under-projected on your frame.
